While the U.S. FDA’s Unique Device Identification (UDI) rule is a key focus for medical device suppliers, hospitals also have an opportunity to capitalize on the ruling for a wide range of benefits, including better patient safety and more efficient supply chain operations. Attendees of the AHRMM14 Conference and Exhibition, August 3 - 6, in Orlando, Florida, will have the opportunity to learn from GHX on how the UDI rule can benefit hospitals and provider organizations.
The session, entitled "UDI: From Regulation to Value,"will take place on Tuesday, August 5, from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. in the Learning Lab. Karen Conway, Executive Director of Industry Relations at GHX, will present ways in which hospitals can benefit from UDI documentation in electronic health records (EHRs) and how to maximize the value of what could become a required investment. Conway works internationally with standards bodies, government agencies, analysts, academic researchers and industry associations to identify opportunities to optimize supply chain operations and improve business and clinical performance. Conway will be joined by Leslie Tompkins, who serves on the FDA’s UDI team.
The session will tackle these and other pressing UDI topics to help hospitals achieve the following:
